Don't Panic

Anyone who is even close to being as big a Sci-Fi geek as I am has long been a fan of Douglas Adams's four book trilogy The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The first two books are about as funny as any I've read. The movie is coming. Click on the picture to go to the movie site and watch the trailer. IMDB has some pictures and other info. I really can't wait.

Comments:
Martin Freeman is a good comedic actor; it will be interesting to see Mos Def doing a more comedic role. He's made an interesting transition from rapper to actor.

If it's anything like Pierce Anthony's series (the first is also being made into a movie), then it's probably pretty cool.

Joshua: Welcome back. Nice to see you again! How's the weather by you?

Irina: I had no idea who Piers Anthony was, so I Googled him. It sounds more like Fantasy than Sci-Fi (though the difference is frequently arbitrary). The Hitchhiker series is very funny, a quality usually not found in either genre. I have no idea if Anthony's stuff is funny or not.

Oh, he's absolutely hilarious! I guess his work is more satire than real fantasy. It really makes you think...

I don't think it can possibly be as funny as the BBC version which came out in '83, and which is available on DVD:

I'm pretty green when it comes to sci-fi, but a friend recommended I check out some Jerry Pournelle or James Hogan.

Do you recommend reading these 2 (if you know)? Thanks, Fred

Fred: Welcome! I haven't heard of either of those authors. Oven is much mover avid reader than me, maybe he can help you, or maybe some of our readers.

Fred - There are a few references to those authors on The One Book List. It is a very good reference of people's favorite books.
