Gere's appeal perplexes Palestinians
On one hand, a sweet Shut Up and Sing (or act) moment.
On the other hand, the Palestinian soap worker seems to already be aligned with Gere politically.

Oh, no! I had no idea the Gere commercial was by "One Voice". Jason Alexander was one of the people that started "One Voice". I heard him speak on Dennis Prager's show months ago. It sounded like a well-intentioned but wildly optimistic plan to get grass-roots Palestinians and Israelis together by first having a huge opinion poll of random Israelis and Palestinians and using that to somehow find common ground. I thought it sounded way too dovish for Dennis, but Dennis gave him lots of air time and positive comments. I'm always skeptical when people think that conflicts are simply based on misunderstanding and the exaggerated effects of a few radicals on both sides. That's only true on "Three's Company". In real life, conflicts frequently result from the accurate understaning that the other side wants to kill you. The shame is that I like Jason Alexander; he seems like a humble self-effacing guy. But if the conflict isn't a misunderstanding, then all efforts to resolve the conflict will only lengthen its duration. The fighting will only stop when one side decides that it has lost, which means when Israel no longer exists, or when Arabs in a deep fundamental way understand that Israel is a permanent entity. All I am saying, is give war a chance.
